The promise

The Window Cleaning Works is the operating manual for one of the last honest, modern, profitable trades a person can start this week with the contents of one car boot. 144 pages. The equipment. The customers. The pricing. The routes. The tax. The tools. The route from a £400 starter kit to a £60,000 round, in two years, written from the inside of the trade.

Who this is for

Four people we wrote it for.

  • You are in your forties, fifties, or sixties and the corporate world has stopped working for you. You want an honest trade with weekly cashflow and no boss.
  • You are a younger person who has noticed that university and a graduate scheme is not the only way to build wealth, and you want a starter business that pays from week one.
  • You are already cleaning windows and you want to stop guessing about pricing, scaling, and the right way to run a route.
  • You are running a different small physical trade and want a model for how to build a round-based, recurring-revenue customer base.
Who this is not for

Four people who should not buy it.

  • You want a business you can run from a laptop on a beach. This is a trade. It involves ladders, water, and weather.
  • You want a £200,000 idea. The honest ceiling on a one-van operation is around £80,000 a year. The £60,000 round in the subtitle is achievable in roughly two years of disciplined work.
  • You want a coaching membership. There is no membership. There is one manual and a refund policy.
  • You want to read about window cleaning. The manual is built for someone who intends to do the work.

Honest questions

Things people ask before they buy.

Is this for me if I have never run a business?
Yes. The manual is written for someone on day one. Chapter 3 covers the registration and tax setup from scratch. The 90-day plan in Chapter 14 is a week-by-week sequence designed for someone who has never traded before.
What if I have been cleaning windows for years already?
Two-thirds of the manual will be familiar. The third you may not know covers commercial contracts (Parts Four and Five), the 2026 tech stack (Chapter 13), and the prompt library. If you read it cover to cover and don't find a single method that pays for the manual on a future quote, ask for the refund.
How long until I make the £29 back?
A single residential window cleaning job in the UK in 2026 averages £14–£22. The manual pays for itself on the second clean of the first customer.
What if I read it and it is not for me?
Email refunds@theworksco.co.uk. We refund the same day. You keep the materials. The refund link is on every page.
Are there upsells, bundles, or follow-on courses?
No. Brief §11.2 of the brand book says — explicitly — that we will never. There is one manual and one price. If we publish another title, it lives at its own URL with its own page.
Will this work outside the UK?
The principles, the customer-acquisition method, the pricing model, the route planning — all transfer. The specific suppliers, the VAT threshold, the insurance brokers, and the GoCardless integration are UK-specific. Appendix C lists the global brand names you can use as search anchors for your country.
